Regenal Theme
Evana Ohio Regenal 2024

We are excited to welcome you to Evana's 2024 Regenal Event for all Ohio Evana Churches July 27-28, 2024! We hope this two day event is filled with worship and leaning more into our walk together with Jesus Christ!

Our theme this year comes from Colossians 2:6-7. During this event we will have three main worship sessions covering being rooted in connecting, healing and growing together as Christians and an Evana Network. Matt Hamsher the Executive Director of Evana will be our main speaker for this event. After the first worship session Saturday morning there will be a lunch provided followed by breakout sessions that will cover a variety of topics (Please see more information below). During the breakout session time, children ages 6-14 will have opportunity to join in some fun and games led by Camp Luz Director, Andrew Michaels. After the afternoon breakout sessions and children's activities there will be opportunity for family time around Kidron Mennonite for games, relaxation, swimming at Camp Luz, a hymn sing and more before supper and the evening worship session.

Regenal then picks back up Sunday morning with coffee and pastries followed by our Sunday morning worship time. After the worship time this concludes the Regenal event but feel free to connect and visit with other Evana church members.

Breakout Session Options
Praying Scripture- Jenny Strasbaugh
Jenny S

Praying Scripture:

There are many excellent ways to talk to God. One way is to prayer His words back to Him. Come discover or rediscover this method and then put it into practice.

Meet the Presenter:

Jenny has been a Christ follower for quite some time now, but still needs his strength to get through each day. Her husband Criag and 3 girls, Elena, Marita and Aubrey are a delight. It’s been said that their dinner conversations are podcastable, but that has little to do with her. (most of the time) Although prayer has been a part of her daily life for as long as she can remember, her grandmother reminding her she prayed for her daily is one of the most vivid. Gardening, stories, campfires, canning and coffee are some of the things that bring excitement to her days.

Hospitality for Amateurs: Contemporary Applications of Biblical Hospitality- Wes Furlong
Wes F

Hospitality for Amateurs- Contemporary Applications of Biblical Hospitality:

Biblical hospitality is dead. Should it be resuscitated in some way? In this seminar, we will explore the main themes of hospitality in scripture and how they might inform our perspective of (and approach toward) generosity and service. Some practical concepts we'll consider include "tithe your home", discerning boundaries and risks, and how an eternal perspective helps us collaborate more effectively with God in His work in the world.

Meet the Presenter:

Wes is the Director of Church Development for EVANA Network. He served as lead pastor at Cape Christian for 11 years before coming to EVANA. Wes holds an M.A. in biblical studies, an M.T.S. from Emory University in theology. He and his wife, Bonnie Furlong, have three children and have been active foster parents. In 2012, Wesley started a city initiative called Not In My City and is passionate about seeing families experience God’s fullness and reclaiming the full healing ministry of Jesus in the local church.

Contending for Renewal-Eric Miller

Contending for Renewal:

Our culture is ripe for renewal.

We are living in the most significant spiritual decline in generations. Many estimate that 1 million young people will walk away from Christian faith this year. And yet, all around us are signs that the secular narrative (of progress without the presence of God) is crumbling. We see unprecedented levels of loneliness, depression, anxiety and addiction, along with identity confusion. In all this, people are desperate for something Real. This is not a moment for resignation or retreat, but for the church to go beyond pragmatic strategies and to embrace the power of the Spirit, contending for renewal!

In this workshop we’ll explore patterns of renewal as well as practical ways we can move from a posture of consumption to a posture of contending.

Meet the Presenter:

Eric and his family are part of Lifebridge Community Church. He and Karmen both grew up in northeast Ohio but followed God's call to Kansas where he served as a pastor for 15 years. They have three children: Brinna, Eden and Grayson. Eric loves to learn and was blessed to study ministry at both Hesston College and Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary. He's passionate about helping people discover the treasure of Jesus and seeing them grow in life with God! He enjoys time with his family, hosting people in their home, hiking, hunting and he's quick say "yes" to an adventure.

Lead and Serve-Mark Steiner

Lead and Serve:

In this breakout session, we will focus on exploring our calling in the “everyday”. We will consider how to be a near culture witness where God has placed us. This includes living our faith as mission; at home, in the workplace, and the community.

Meet the Presenter:

Mark Steiner has worked in family business for the past 50 years. He and his wife
Karen have four adult children, three sons-in-law and ten grandchildren. The
Steiners are active members at Dayspring Christian Fellowship and were on the
original church plant team, 40 years ago. Mark is retired but does some business
consulting and leads business leadership training sessions. His joys are spending
time with family/grandchildren, hobby farming and using his gifts to serve others.

Living Abundantly-Vicki Conn

Living Abundantly:

Drawing from the Truth in John 10:10, we recognize that the enemy comes to "steal, kill & destroy", but Jesus came to give life abundantly. We were created to function perfectly and wholly in all areas of our life - spiritually, relationally, emotionally, mentally, physically and financially. As broken humans, how do we break free from the enemy's ploys to steal, kill and destroy and step into a full abundant life? How do we witness, serve and walk with others in ways that effectively invite them into living abundantly? In this workshop we will explore practical ways to stop the thief and focus on the goodness Jesus has for each of us and for our relationships.

Meet the Presenter:

Vicki is married to Jay Conn, who is the pastor at Martins Creek Mennonite Church. She and Jay are high school sweethearts and have lived in Harrisonburg, Virginia; Corry, Pennsylvania; and have moved in and out of Holmes County over the past 30 years. They have a growing family with 4 children ranging from 14-26 years old, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, one grandson and one granddaughter on the way! Gathering with all of them on Sundays after church, laughing, digging into God's Word, writing and traveling are at the top of the list for Vicki. She is the Executive Director of Love INC of Greater Holmes County, where local churches and volunteers are connected to opportunities to serve and walk alongside families who are going through difficult times. Vicki desires nothing more than to see others experience freedom from the brokenness of this life, embrace Jesus and experience all the fullness He provides.
